So I did my first jewellery commission a couple of weeks ago. I had about two weeks from idea to the shoot. I used Model Mayhem to find my fantastic model, Violet Noir. A friend suggested the wonderful make up artist Aimee Preece and together we embarked on an experiment in deepest darkest Roath, in Cardiff, one sunny Sunday afternoon.
I took my inspiration from the name of the jewellery itself. It’s Baah Design and my starting point was a sheep. Yep. A sheep. I wanted to create Sheepgirl. Unfortunately the massive white afro wig I ordered didn’t turn up, tut, so I had to dash into town at the last minute on a search for a golden fleece (white afro) which wasn’t going to cost an arm and a leg. I found such a wig here whose helpful assistant advised me that the modest clown wig fluffs up a treat which, to be fair, it did.
We spent the afternoon playing around with the jewellery and with another idea – festival girl. The jewellery had to stand out but competition was tough as it was up against Violet Noir and Aimee’s fantastic make up.
Still, we did it. We had a fantastic time – all chucking in ideas and bringing expertise to the proceedings. Very collaborative, Can’t wait to do it again.
I’m thrilled with the results. Here are some of my favourites from the day. Enjoy.
